Item Description
A wonderful set of antique hand-forged Lily pattern cutlery for 12 people. This is a one date and maker service, every piece being made by Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater of London in 1917. The set is in superb condition with very little sign of wear and tear and a beautiful flowing naturalism. Each piece is engraved with a family crest of an arm holding a broken arrow and the crest can be removed if required.
Taking his inspiration from the elegant shape of the lily flower, Sheffield silversmith Frederick Elkington first created this pattern and had its design registered in 1850. The style is a good example of mid-Victorian naturalism and anticipates the Art Nouveau styling of the early 1900s with emphasis on a bold flowing border.
The set is presented in a wooden canteen and comprises:
12 table forks
12 dessert forks
12 table soup spoons
12 dessert spoons
12 teaspoons
1 soup ladle
1 basting spoon
2 gravy ladles
1 pair of sugar tongs
5 egg spoons
Because antique knives rarely survive, the set is accompanied by 12 pairs of new, dishwasher-safe, silver table and dessert knives with stainless steel blades.
This silver cutlery service is not available for purchase online. Please get in touch directly if you would like to buy this set.
