Item Description

'Coffin End' sounds pretty ominous, but it happens to give one a shorthand image of the shape of the finial of this distinctive pattern. This 1789 example must be one of the first.

Despite the name of its pattern, this is a lovely Georgian silver ladle with good weight in the hand and a really elegant, large bowl. It will serve well to dole out generous portions of gravy, or perhaps lashings of custard...what a way to go .

Length: 19cm or 7 ½ inches
