Item Description

a fine set of twelve silver dinner plates, each shaped circular with gadroon border and engraved with the royal coronet for a prince or princess of the royal blood (child of the monarch).

History

Given the date of manufacture and absence of other titles, the most likely owner of this set of royal dinner plates is Princess Elizabeth (1770–1840), the seventh child and third daughter of King George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who married Frederick VI, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg in 1818.
