		Item Description

The loss of the American Colonies was the biggest topic of international news when these spoons were made. Just think about that for a moment. Yes, it was a tragic blow for Britain, but at least those who remained on this side of the Atlantic could console themselves that there were gorgeous implements with which to eat one's dinner back here in Blighty...Definitely NOT what was being used in the Colonies, where most folks were eating with wooden, pewter, horn, or, only at the very pinnacle of society, ancestral British sterling silver. This pair of spoons is a survivor of centuries of loving, careful use, and in very nice, but not perfect, condition: There is some wear to the tips of the bowls. Ah, but the hallmarks are right as rain and the beautifully engraved crests reveal the gentle wear of having been laid on almost 240 years' worth of tables. Great Georgian silver.
Crest of Hand, Sword and Boar.
Length: 8 inches (20.3cm)
