Item Description

A superb Chinese armorial porcelain cup and saucer. Chinese rose medallion enamel, with stunning butterflies, flowers and birds. Within reserves there are courtly figures.
Surely one of the last few great armorial services produced in China for the west.

Beautiful oversized cup. Very useable, just don't put it in the dishwasher!

Central crest of the ORMISTON or Ormistone family of KELSO near Roxburgh, Scotland.

A family Seat was GLENBURN HALL. Anchor crest. "Felicior quo certior". The surer the happier.

The family had many East India Company and maritime connections and John Ormiston fought in the 91st Regiment Foot. William Ormiston was midshipman on H.M.S Modeste. Died 1811. There was also a captain Ormenston 1740-1812.
