Item Description

This is a really lovely Georgian silver tablespoon. The bowl has been gilded, probably as it was intended to be used with fruit. Gilding is a form of gold plating, a method of preventing staining or corrosion of silver surfaces by fruit acids. It has a real feeling of quality, with a rich, tactile appeal. The crest is a nicely engraved arm holding an anchor. This spoon has substantial age to it, and it is in cracking condition. The Crest is finely engraved.
