Item Description

This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver chamber candlestick (chamberstick) has a plain circular form.

The lower portion of the bell shaped capital is embellished with fluted decoration.

The wax pan of the chamberstick is ornamented with an engraved crest depicting a demi-man in armour, holding in his dexter hand a gemmed'ring, and in the sinister a lion's gamb erased.

The chamber candlestick retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce and the original detachable hallmarked snuffer.

The snuffer has a conical form and is surmounted by simplified bud style finial.

The connecting peg of the snuffer is ornamented with an impressive chased leaf design to the upper portion.

The rims of the wax pans, snuffers and sconces have impressive gadroon decorated borders.

One side of the snuffer and the surface of the sconce are ornamented with the aforementioned engraved crest to the wax pan.

The chamberstick is fitted with a shaped handle featuring a plain thumbpiece and lobed socket to the underside.

This antique chamber candlestick is an exceptional gauge of silver and an exceptional example of its type.

This antique chamberstick is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
