Item Description
unusual cased set of ten silver apostle style teaspoons with gilded terminals depicting the ten "Queen's Beasts": heraldic emblems which illustrate the genealogy of Queen Elizabeth II. These comprise:
The Lion of England
The Griffin of Edward III
The Falcon of the Plantaganets
The Black Bull of Clarence
The White Lion of Mortimer
The Yale of Beaufort
The White Greyhound of Richmond
The Red Dragon of Wales
The Unicorn of Scotland
The White Horse of Hanover
In fitted case titled for the 1972 Silver Wedding of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

History
The "Queen's Beasts" were originally commissioned as statues to stand outside Westminster Abbey for the Queen's Coronation in 1953. After the coronation, the statues were removed to Hampton Court. Since painted with heraldic colours, they are currently on display at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa.
