Item Description

G R V (King George V)

The following is taken from Brian North Lee's "British Royal Bookplates" page 116:

"Unlike his predeccessors, King George V had - in addition to the by then traditional set of Royal Library Windsor ex-libris in three sizes - three simple cypher bookplates. These were cut on wood by H S Ulrich, after George W Eve's pen drawings."

This is the third and simplest of the three and the one used by His Majesty as his personal bookplate (plate 96 in Brian North Lee's book) and consists of the Royal cypher in solid black letters. The design was sunsequently adapted by King George VI to use as his personal bookplate.

Described by Brian North Lee as "rare".

In excellent condition and framed in matt black.
