Item Description

A 19th century armorial bookplate for Alderman William Hunter, Sheriff of London and Middx. 1844-5.

Alderman Hunter was subsequently Lord Mayor of London and was the last Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Upholders to hold that position. A portrait of him hangs in the mansion house.

The arms are those of Hunter impaling Kemp.

In good condition. Framed in matt black with a cream mount. Dimensions 105 by 70mm
