Item Description

a rare single sterling silver candlestick designed as a fluted Classical urn on a similarly half-fluted four-sided plinth, each side decorated with a shield and ribbon respectively engraved with a crest, baron's coronet and initial "C". On spreading stepped base, loaded.

Height: 137mm / 5 3/8 inches


History

Crest, initial and coronet for CARBERY, probably for George Evans, 4th Baron Carbery (1766–1804).

A similar dwarf candlestick designed as an urn by John Parsons, Sheffield 1789 decorated with the crest of the Prince of Wales is in the Royal Collection.
