Item Description
This is a fine example of a Georgian silver one pint beer mug. The mug is in a baluster form which is the most popular design and it feels splendid in the hand. The original planishing (hammer) marks can still be seen to the interior and give evidence of the method of high quality hand-raised manufacture by one of the finest specialist hollowware makers of the late George II/early George III periods. It has a good hefty weight and bears a beautifully engraved crest of a horse's head to the front. This ale mug or tankard has a lovely patina and is in fantastic condition throughout. It is a perfect example of the archetypal Georgian pint mug.
