Item Description

An early 19th century armorial bookplate and autograph for Amos Beardsley of Grange over Sands.

Dr Amos Beardsley (1822-1900) was born at Heanor in Derbyshire before establishing a medical practice at Grange over Sands in Lancashire. He is shown as living at Bay Villa from the 1861 census. Member of Grange Local Board and Trustee of Grange School. Described as "the distinguished surgeon, physician, friend of the late Duke of Devonshire and medical attendant to the Stanley's of Witherslack Hall."
