Granted to Sir William Maddock Baylis, Knt. Bach., F.R.S., M.D., of St Cuthberts, West Heath Road, London, NW3, on 22 Aug. 1922. Sir William (born 1860) married in 1893, Gertrude, daughter of Matthew Starling, Acting Judge, Bombay, and died in 1924 leaving 3 sons: Carol William Baylis (b.1894), Gerald Matthew Baylis (b.1897) and Leonard Ernst Baylis (b.1900). Sir William Baylis was an eminent english physiologist who worked closely with his brother in law Ernest Starling.
