Medical Service, Director of Royal Gardens at Kew 1905-22, and of Forest Products Research 1922-5, b. 1857 edler son of late David Prain of Fettercaain, Kincardineshire (1824-1901) by Mary, eldest d. of late George Thomson of Alford Aberdeenshire. Sir David married 1887 Margaret, d. of Rev William Thomson of Belhevie, Aberdeenshire; and had issue - Theodore Prain, 1887-1914. Residence: The Well Farm, Warlingham, Surrey.
