The Godfrey Family Crest

Peter Godfrey Esq. Taken from an 18th century bookplate. The motto is the same as the Godfreys of Lydd, Heppington and so on in Kent but the image appears to be of a moor rather than the traditional saracen. This might be an engraving error or represent another branch of the family.
