Granted by the Ulster Office on 22 November 1915 to Cyril de Lacy Nicholson, Gentleman, B.L., b.1902 of Beech Hill, Ardmore, Co. Londonderry. Only son of Thomas Francis Nicholson, Esq., J.P., co. Londonderry, sometime Major King's (Liverpool) Regiment, of Beech Hill, Ardmore, co. Londonderry, b. 186-; d.1911; m.1900 Frances de Lacy, d. of Lieut. M. Drummond Byner. 3rd Dragoon Guards. Cyril de Lacy Nicholson, Q.C., D.L., m. 1928 Eleanor Gerad Caffney(d.1972) and died 1963 leaving Sir (James) Michael Anthony Nicholson, P.C.(1995) [The Rt. Hon Lord Justice Nicholson] b.1933. Sir Michael m.1973 Augusta Mary Ada, Dame SMO Malta, daughter of Thomas F. Doyle of Ardmanagh Passage West, Co. Cork and has issue. Beech Hill was acquired by the Nicholsons of Newbuildings in 1872 and sold to hoteliers in 1989 who now run it as Beech Hill Country Hotel. In 1942 the house was requisitioned by the US Marines who had been sent to protect Londonderrys WWII military installations.
