The Milles Family Crest

Earl Sondes of Lees Court in Kent. The Hon Lewis Monson, 2nd son of the 1st Baron Monson, was created Baron Sondes in 1760, having inherited the estates of his cousin 3rd Earl Rockingham and changed his surname to Watson in 1746. The 4th Baron changed his name to Milles by Royal Licence in 1820 before acceding to the barony on the death of his brother in 1836. The 5th Baron, sometime MP for East Kent, was created Earl Sondes (and Viscount Throwley) in 1880. The 3rd Earl changed his surname yet again to Milles-Lade.
