George Ormerod, LLD, DCL, F.S.A., F.R.S. of Tyldesley, Co. Lancaster and Sedbury Park, Co. Gloucestershire. Descended from the youngest son of Peter Ormerod of Ormerod, esq. born 1588 by his wife Johanna, daughter of George Howarth, esq. George Ormerod is the able and accomplished author of "The History of Cheshire". He is the only child of the late George Ormerod of Bury by his wife, daughter and eventual co-heiress of Thomas Johnson of Tyldesley, co. Lancaster by his wife Susanna, daughter and sole heiress of Samuel Wareing of Walmesley. Of the family was the eminent polemicist, Rev. Oliver Ormerod , temp James I.
