The Philbrick Family Crest
Frederick Adolphus Philbrick of the Middle Temple (1835-1910). He was born in Colchester, the son of a lawyer. He also had a successful legal career, eventually becoming a judge. A freemason, he is better known as an early British philatelist. One of the founders of the "Philatelic Society, London", which later became the Royal Philatelic Society London, he was its first Vice-President and was its President 1872-1892. Philbrick was also an honorary member of the Fiscal Philatelic Society. He was named as one of the "fathers of philately" on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
