The Sewall Family Crest

The arms here given were engraved, by Nathaniel Hurd, under the portrait of the Rev. Samuel Sewall, of Boston. He descended from Henry Sewall, once Mayor of Coventry, England. The greatgrandson of the above Henry, also Henry by name, was sent to New England in 1634. Chief Justice Samuel Sewall belonged to that stock. The same arms are borne by the Sewells of Newport, Isle of Wight.
