The Roosevelt Family Crest
Claes Martensen van Roosevelt came from the protestant Netherlands, to New Amsterdam, in 1651. From the start this distinguished family took a prominent part in the public affairs of the colony, and prospered materially to a remarkable extent. The arms we give were used from the first generation down to the present day, and have never been challenged.
