The Wilkinson Family Crest
In September, 1615, the coat of arms we give was granted to Lawrence Wilkinson, Esquire of Farye on the Hill, son of Launcelot Wilkinson, Esquire of Kyo, county Durham, England. The grantee settled, later, on his estate of Harpsley House, same county. His grandson, Lawrence Wilkinson, came over to Providence, R. I., where he settled in 1652. He had been a Lieutenant in King Charles' army, and had to seek a refuge, over the seas, when the Cromwellians reigned supreme.
