The Nicholson Family Crest
The family of Nicholson, of Virginia, was founded there by the emigrant, Robert Nicholson, who was granted five hundred acres of land in Charles City county, Va., in 1655. His descendant, Francis Nicholson, was Governor and Captain General of South Carolina (1693-94), and received, as a royal grant, the arms we give, which are duly inserted in Burke, etc.
