The Loring Family Crest
At the Old Granary Burial Ground, in Boston, is found a tombstone of the Loring family bearing the devices we give. The emigrant was Thomas Loring, who came, in 1635, from Axminster, county Devon, England, to Hingham, Mass. The same arms were borne in 1344, by Sir Nigel Loryng, of Chalgrave, county Bedford, one of the founder Knights of the Garter.
