The Read Family Crest
We think that the coat of arms used by the Hon. George Read, signer of the Independence, and Chief Justice of Pennsylvania, borne in the present day by his descendant, General Meredith Read, late U. S. Minister to Greece, will be of some interest to our readers, and we give it as an extra illustration. We must mention that Sir Bernard Burke accepts the American branch as belonging to the family of Reade, Baronets of Shipton Court, county Oxon.
