The Whitney Family Crest
The emigrant, Henry Whitney, who came over in 1649, was the son of Thomas Whitney, of North Church, Herts. He settled in Connecticut The family claims descent from Eustace Whitney (1066). Such a family certainly did exist in that part of England from whence the emigrant came. There is also an Irish family of Whitney, with different armorial bearings.
