The Burnet Family Crest

William Burnet, the emigrant, Governor of Massachusetts in 1728, was son of the Right Rev. Dr. Gilbert Burnet, the famed Bishop of London under William III. [The family is a branch of the Scotch Burnets, divided in Burnets of that Ilk and Burnets of Lees.] Alexander Burnet, the greatgrandfather of the emigrant, was Laird of Lees.
