The Chauncey Family Crest

The family possesses a clear pedigree back to the X. century. Charles de Chauncey came over with the Conqueror. His lineal descendant, George Chauncey, of New Place and Yardleybury, county Hertford, England, died in 1625, leaving several children. His fifth son, Charles Chauncey, came over, in 1638, to New England. In 1654, he was made second President of Harvard College, and died in 1671.
