The Chase Family Crest

Aquila Chase, mariner, was a descendant of the family of Chase, or Chause, long settled in Suffolk, which, in the reign of Henry VII., came into Buckinghamshire, and settled at Chesham. He was in New England, with his brother Thomas, about 1636-7. In 1639, Aquila Chase was a grantee of Hampton. The shield is found in the Visitations of county Berks for 1634. Chief Justice Chase was a descendant of Aquila Chase.
