The Heathcote Family Crest
The sixth son of Sir Gilbert Heathcote, Knight, of Chesterfield in Scarsdale, county Derby, England, was Colonel Caleb Heathcote, the emigrant, who obtained, in 1701, the grant of the Manor of Scarsdale, in the province of New York. A branch of the English Heathcotes enjoyed the now extinct title of Baron Aveland. The English Heathcotes count still amongst the landed gentry of counties Huntington and Stafford.
