Good quality crested George I Britannia silver tankard London 1716 William Petley
This very good quality crested George I Britannia silver lidded tankard was made in London in 1716 by William Petley and measures 7 inches tall by 7.6 inches from the handle across and is 4 3/8 inches across the top and 5.25 inches across the skirted base. It has a cast and scrolled handle with a dog nose terminal at the bottom and a cast and scrolled thumb piece attaching the lid, the lid is stepped and slightly domed and it is fully hallmarked to the side and inside the lid. It has a nice crest to the front and is a very nice tankard in very good condition weighing 27.65 ounces or 861 grams.
