Hills in the Peerage:


-Marquis of Downshire, Hillsborough Castle, county Down, in 1883 they had a total of 120,189 acres (worth 96,691 guineas per annum), of which 78,051 were in County Down, 15,766 in Wicklow, 13,679 in King's County, 5,787 in co. Antrim, 1,338 in Kildare, 5,287 in Berkshire, and 281 in Suffolk.



-Barony of Sandys created in 1802 for Mary Hill, Marchioness of Downshire, Baroness Sandys (1774–1836). In 1883 the Lord Sandys had 2,585 acres in Worcester (worth 6,668);



-Baron Trevor, created in 1880 for Lord Edwin Hill-Trevor, a scion of the Downshires.
In 1883 Lord Trevor, of Brynkinalt, Chirk, North Wales, had 11,010 acres in county Down (worth 9,142), 8,372 in county Antrim, 1,219 in co. Armagh, 1,743 in Salop, 954 in Flint and 396 in Denbigh, (total of 23,694 (worth 17,700));



-Viscount Hill, of Hawkstone, Shrewsbury in 1883 he had 16,5534 acres in Shropshire. Created in 1842 for General Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill of Almaraz, GCB, GCH (1772–1842) served in the Napoleonic Wars and was Commander-in-Chief of the British Army in 1828. Baronies were created in 1814 and 1816, the later with a special remainder. Rowland Hill, 2nd Viscount married Anne, daughter of Joseph Clegg, of Peplow Hall, Shropshire, and granddaughter and heiress of Arthur Clegg, of Irwell, Lancashire, in 1831, hence their surname now being Clegg-Hill.

-Rev. John Richard Hill, of Thornton Dale, Pickering, 7,632 acres in North Yorkshire (worth 4,457 guineas per annum).
