Six or seven Smith Peers:
-Viscount Hambledon (created 1891), of Greenlands, Henley-on-Thames, creators of W. H . Smith. In 1883 they had 5,150 acres in Suffolk (worth 8,000), 1,100 in Buckinghamshire (worth 1,770) and 527 in Berkshire (worth 715 guineas pa);
-Earldom of Birkenhead, created for F. E. Smith, aka The Rt. Hon. Frederick Edwin Smith, GCSI, PC, KC (1872 –1930), in 1922. (Extinct 1985);
-Lord Carrington, sometime of of Wycombe Abbey, High Wycombe. In 1883 they had 16,128 acres in Buckinghamshire (worth 26,805 guineas pa) and 9,656 acres in Lincolnshire (worth 15,418). Various creations: Marquis (1912) (& Viscount & Earl before that in 1895), and Baron (1796 and 1797).
-Lord Bicester (scion of the above), Barony created in 1938;
-Frederick Henry Smith (1859-1946), PC, created Baron Colwyn, in 1917;
-Ferdinando Dudley William Lea Smith, 12th Baron Dudley (1872–1936). A barony created by writ in 1440, enjoyed by two or three generations of the Smith family between 1916 and 1972.
