G R VI Royal Library Windsor Castle (King George VI)
A superb unsigned pictorial bookplate engraved by Stephen Gooden of St George and the Dragon above an inscriptional tablet, within an oval formed by the Garter ribbon; cypher and Royal crown above.
Described by Brian North Lee in "British Royal Bookplates" as "Uncommon" (see Plate 103 on page 122). This is state c) with the cypher of George VI substituted for that of Edward VIII.
This image was adapted by Paul Kruger Gray for the George Medal.
Framed in matt black and in excellent condition. The plate measures 6.5 by 4.25 inches.
