Antique 19th Century exceptionally rare William IV solid silver mounted large green marble casket, of rectangular form, mottled green marble panels mounted with solid silver corner mounts and hinges in the Neo-Gothic style, the top is further applied with a solid silver coat of arms representing the arms of Barons Gray, probably for Francis, 14th Lord Gray.

The impressive casket was probably part of an important desk set.

Every silver part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1832 (r), all the mounts with the Maker's mark "PS" for Paul Storr, the coat of arms with the mark "crowned IB" for John Bridge of Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.

Paul Storr is considered one of the best goldsmiths and silversmiths of all time, producing the most exceptional pieces for the Royal families of all Europe. The firm Rundell & Bridge, after Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, was appointed Royal silversmith and goldsmith in 1797, becaming Principal Royal Goldsmith in 1804 and helding the Royal Warrant until 1843, Paul Storr was in charge of the Rundell & Bridge workshop in the early 19th century, often collaborating for important commissions even after opening his own firm in 1819.
